THE FACE OF GOD

At the turn of the century, there was something in the air of Galveston, Texas. Shipping and cotton tycoons were making fortunes from her deep water harbor, European immigrants were flocking to the "New York of the South" to start a new life, and Black Americans had access to labor, educational, and political opportunity unlike anywhere else in the South. But on September 8th, 1900, a category 4 hurricane made landfall in Galveston and became the deadliest natural disaster in American history to date, claiming up to 12,000 lives in one night. The American government knew a storm had been brewing, but arrogantly refused to believe Cuban weather forecasts and failed to warn the city of the imminent threat. This story will follow who chose to come together in the face of injustice and despair, and who acted out of fear and stopped at nothing to uphold the social order. It will ask audiences a simple question that we may have to answer sooner than we think: "Will you let the neighbors in?"

KEEP ME IN MIND

What do we owe to our family? How do we fix what can’t be fixed? In this heartfelt and vulnerable tale, a devoted woman must reckon these questions when caring for her ailing mother with Alzheimer's gets in the way of starting a family with her wife. Featuring a sweeping and vibrant contemporary musical theatre score, “Keep Me in Mind” weaves present actions and past memories to tell a unique story about the emotional and almost universal experience of caregiving. Finalist: 2023 Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub at CSU Northridge (CSUN) “Latine Musical Theatre New Works” Grant at CSU Fullerton. Semi Finalist: 2023 National Musical Theater Conference at the Eugene O'Neill Center.

COWBOY SHAKESPEARE

In March of 2020, I was cast as Amiens in a production of As You Like It set in the Wild West and was asked to write five songs for the production in the epic Americana style of "O Brother Where Art Thou". The production went the way of the pandemic, of course, but the songs remained! The goal is to someday make an EP with the most rocking bluegrass musicians I know, but for now, you can listen to an excerpt of "Under the Greenwood Tree."
